words of Quaker mystic and scholar, Thomas Kelly,  from A Testament of Devotion (1941)

Thomas Kelly (1893-1941) was a Quaker writer, educator and mystic. A disappointing failure plunged  him into a depression, during which he had a major spiritual awakening. He wrote that he was “shaken by the experience of Presence— something that I did not seek, but that sought me.” After this awakening, he became aware of the abundance available at every moment, if attention is given to it. The reference is John 5:4. His book, A Testament of Devotion, is a Christian devotional classic.
